We have had a great start to the school year at Timberbank Junior Public School. As the new Principal of Timberbank, I am honoured to be part of such a vibrant school. In my short time here already, I have been welcomed by the students, staff and members of the parent community, and I am amazed by the evident passion Timberbank and learning.
I truly believe strong partnerships between parents and staff will lead to academic success for all students. Therefore, I invite you to visit our school and to actively participate in your child’s education. This participation may come in a variety of forms including: joining the school council, volunteering at the school, checking your child’s homework and agenda on a daily basis, attending school-wide events, and communicating questions or concerns to me and the teachers.
September and October have already been busy with many activities including The National Ballet, a two night stay at Kearney for our grade 6 students, The Terry Fox run, Dhanaian Drumming workshops, and our first “On T.R.A.C.K.” Assembly. Timberbank opened a new Kindergarten class which has allowed for more individualized attention in the important early years. Extra Curricular teams and clubs are well under way with the Kilometre Club, Cross Country Team, Soccer Team, Ambassadors, Announcers and Library Helpers. Volleyball try-outs have just begun and the crafters and cooking clubs begin next week.
My first impressions of Timberbank support my belief that a school is more than just a place to learn to read and write. The extra activities that are offered by our energetic and caring staff help to build pride, engage our students and add to the experience of learning. I look forward to meeting more of the parents and community members and a great year with all of you at Timberbank.
